Moments with Birds

This collection of photographs reflects some of my favorite memories spent in our natural world. The beautiful positioning of the limb underneath the Northern mockingbird, the dark forest behind the American goldfinch, and the missing foot of the Great Egret doing a “balancing act” landing on a log in the middle of the marsh all speak to me. They were rare opportunities to capture a moment of wonder, and I remember them like it was yesterday. Chasing birds in flight and low-light conditions, especially the fast warblers, can become a great challenge. I am very conscious of my camera settings, but sometimes what may seem a mistake with the exposure can turn out to be a rewarding surprise in post-edit. I hope that by sharing the beauty of birds through the lens of my camera you too will become more interested in the conservation efforts of their habitat.
